In Ashby

A busy day today. First we had to deliver Basil to the dog groomer on Flesh Hovel Lane (yes, really).  Drove back  for a cup of tea before leaving for the surgery for my B12 injection, finally.

Picked Basil up at 13 30 and stopped off at The Outwoods for a latte before driving to Ashby for me to have my feet done. Another latte and an iced bun for me beforehand.

Ashby is described as a market town although it must also have had connections to coal mining. It has a much more traditional feel than Loughborough which has seen more alterations in the town and more housing development. Part of that traditional feel are the many through passages (such as this) which connect Market Street with North Street and South Street.

Yes, Ashby de la Zouch has character. It has an ancient tradition, the name Ashby being of Anglo-Danish origin meaning ash tree, going back to Viking times. La Zouch refers to the Zouche family who were given the living following the Norman Conquest.
