Street Light Shadows
Portland switched to LED bulbs for street lighting about 10 years ago. The switch saves the city about a million a year, and the fixtures shine down, lessening light pollution in the sky. Nice, but the net effect is dimmer lighting and the weird shadows. The lights have 3 bulbs giving the eerie patterns that make you want to rub your eyes.
But, if I rubbed my eyes on my way to my car after an evening of dinner and TV with Di, it was because of the street lights, not because of the comfy, fun time. We’ve been watching No Good Deed a dark comedy about people trying to buy a particular Hollywood house all the while trying to keep their heads above water, hide past and present crimes, infidelities, and other craziness. Rather hilarious, but a good diversion from the hideous mess we are about to find our national selves in.
Every outside shot of the house reminds you of the ongoing fires, however; it’s like sitting in a movie with someone who keeps jabbing you in the ribs to get you to pay special attention to something - I’d rather they skip those outside shots of the house.
