Once you're round the back of the cottages, the madly overgrown dell sides (note the stone steps on the left-hand side of the stream) rise steeply upwards and turn right. There the dell opens up and appears utterly unpassable through every kind of leg-tangling flora. But then you spot something that looks completely out of place ...
