Buckets of rain.

As predicted we had rain today, Bucket loads. I now agree that there is a North/South divide for when I was running for cover in a raincoat my Dad and rest of the family have been suffering in the heat of 31 degrees having to sit next to fans and squirt each other with water pistols to keep cool !

Even so we went in search of icecream. After tasting the Black Isle dairies icecream yesterday we decided to get some for the freezer. The shop/café is in Daviot on the Daviot Estate just outside Inverness City. The dairy is a converted 19th century farm steading and makes a lovely café set among stunning countryside. We had lunch which was very tasty and well presented. I had a seafood platter with a nice salad and we shared a bowl of vanilla icecream topped with tablet.
There was a selection of about 15 very different flavoured icecreams including Jaffa cake and bourbon biscuit. We choose the pistachio.

As this was a new road to us we thought we would see where it would end up and came across the Nairn/Culloden/Clava viaduct. It was opened in 1898 as part of the Inverness and Aviemore direct railway. This is the longest masonry viaduct in Scotland spanning 1800ft.It is built on a curve with 29 semi-circular arches over the valley of the Nairn. It is sometimes called 'the forth bridge of stone' .Quite impressive.
