Phew. Just made it
It is 5 minutes to midnight so I’ve just made it to Blip. We’ve had a fantastic evening with Chris, Phil and Carol who had been invited to meet Dennis. But being only we 5 of very old friends was so relaxing and we had such wide-ranging conversations that bonded us even closer.
For some reason it seems the more time I have the longer it takes to accomplish the tasks I’ve given myself. Parkinson’s law. But it was enjoyable making the complicated leek and nut roast tart tatin and accompaniments for our meal tonight. We had lentil, celery and carrot soup. Then the tart tatin, a Meera Sodal chickpea tomato cucumber olive salad with a harissa dressing. This pudding is a white chocolate and orange mouse decorated with rose petals (from my one visit to Waitrose) and blueberries and rasps in Framboise liqueur. It was very sweet but appreciated.
#2 daughter phoned wondering why she’d asked me to put her in touch with my friend the educational psychologist (about finding family therapy for them and James) as he’s been a joy these last few weeks. School is delighted with the strides in progress he’s made though it can’t be recorded as such because his writing is so poor so she’s accepting that’s the way school has to work for Ofsted. As long as he’s keeping trying and is happy at school that’s the main thing. I think it’s hard to adapt to bright children whose brain does not conform. I think he finds change difficult so Christmas in Bulgaria in a hotel and skiing lessons were all a lot for him but I think he did really well and she copes and manages the situation far better than I would have.
#3 survived the dreaded Ofsted. I hope the school did too.
