Trusty friend
They didn’t forecast a freezing night.
But I’m a wimp and draped the cover over the windscreen..
It was minus three or four and the roads were bad as I went for my swim.
They were still horrid as I went into Birmingham to the hairdresser I first found in the early 1970s.
Rob went to school with Stevie Winwood and was full of interesting tales. He was also a brilliant stylist who could tame my unruly curls. His daughter used to turn up there, aged about 14, in those early days, serving her apprenticeship washing hair and generally tidying.
Rob retired and Jo has the salon. She’s inherited his skills and I make that trek every seven or so weeks. It’s worth the traffic even on a day like this.
Back home, with my hair duly tamed, I had a useful blipping visit from my robin……..they’re good these farm shop peanuts.
