Surprise

The forecast for this day was for cloudy and overcast - just like yesterday. True enough in the morning, which was grey and dull. But around noon, the clouds started to dissipate, and the afternoon was just lovely; sunny, calm and not cold. 

B and I were both working front home today, and decided to go for a quick walk in the vineyards. At the spot where I took this photo of the Rhine valley (looking towards the city of Mainz and the distant Odenwald hills), a new orchard has just been planted. It’s a rather dry and sunny hillside, and I wonder if the young trees will thrive there. Time will tell.
