Oh Dam!

My day has been spent assisting a friend photographing our new dam and it is a fantastic engineering achievement.
An engineer who specialises in dams recently visited the site and stated that to build it today it would cost NZ$350 million and if it has been built cheaper than that we have a bargain.
The Extras
Looking up the "Spillway" which is where if the dam is full this is where it overflows.
The smallest of the three outlets from the dam is open as the water flowing down the spillway is too warm for the river so as the vent water comes from the bottom of the lake. We went down into the culvert that runs under the dam to three metres of concrete separating us from the bottom of the lake.

A brilliant day not only the weather but to tour the dam.
