Mistletoe and lollipop trees

A misty and sunny morning walking with my friend M at Tyntesfield, a national trust place just a few minutes south of Bristol. It has a big house - which I’ve never been in. It’s all about the gardens. A beautiful parkland with a collection of lovely trees - as Victorians were wont to do. And a magnificent walled kitchen garden - in extra - even in January there are plenty of good things to eat - I hope you can see the leeks and celeriac in the extra.
M worked with me at Oxfam until Christmas, when some life circumstances meant she needed to leave. And it’s mainly because she left that I don’t enjoy it so much. So we have set up a standing order to meet at Tyntesfield every 5 weeks:)
In the late afternoon I went to see Angelina Jolie being Maria Callas. The third of Pablo Larrain’s films of iconic 20th century women - the first two being ‘Jackie’ and’Spencer’. It’s a very good film - I don’t think I’ve seen AJ in a serious film before. She can really act - she moves you throughout the whole thing. Cleverly it is Callas’s voice in all the flashbacks of her career - a treat in itself to listen to her for a couple of hours- and Jolies voice, very creditable, in her last days. Another one I recommend:-) I was so happy to see my film friend H looking a little better than she was last week.
