My topsy-turvy life

The second coming of David Moyes

Everton 0 Villa 1
Premier League

Tonight probably showed David Moyes the scale of the job he's taken on in coming back after 11 years. Villa were the better team and played the game, and the occasion, perfectly, slowing it down at every opportunity and looking dangerous everytime they broke forward which is how their decisive goal came. It was more of the same from the Blues although a vast improvement on recent Sean Dyche games I've seen. It looked like the intention at least was to try and score and DCL should have done that right at the end instead of blazing it over the bar. Even a point would have been very useful.

Only 10 games left now at Goodison to see the Grand Old Lady off in some sort of style. I'm hoping to get to another game this season but there's the chance this is my last Goodison game so I felt I should try and take it all in on my way round to the Gwladys Street including the statue of the Holy Trinity; Kendall, Harvey, and Ball, on the island by St Luke's.

I almost didn't make the game tonight. At lunchtime I got a call from school to say Owen had had an accident. He'd fallen and hit his mouth, knocking a tooth out in the process. Luckily Louisa was at home and got an emergency dentist appointment who then referred him to A&E for more checks. Between us we decided that it wouldn't really achieve anything if I missed the match but could take tomorrow off to look after him...it didn't stop me feeling incredibly guilty and distracted though.
