The hard sell

I’ve spent a good while today wrting to market my self pubished novella. I’ve had very good responses from readers but my difficult task is to aquire more of them.  My two main tacks have been sending free copies to local bookshops and trying to generate an interest in Helensburgh, the town on which the book is based. To be honest, I hate doing all this. ( I wrote the bloody thing, is that not enough?) What I probably need is a champion.  Champion wanted: Should be terribly charismatic and be able to charm birds out of trees.
