Silk kimono jacket

This is my new silk kimono-style jacket bought to brighten up the velvet dark green dress. I’ll look like a Glasgow bus. But I like it.

The morning seemed to slip away but I got the family year book checked so it’s ready for a Blurb offer.

The car went in for service and is not ready yet. New exhaust this time. It’s really time we were rid of it and looking for something else. No more Fords for us. They don’t last like European cars. But on the other hand parts are cheaper.

Mr C took the van out for a short drive then couldn’t get it back up the hill as people were all over the road trying to fix a burst pipe. Turns out they’d e-mailed Mr C to say our water would be off all day and of course he’d not read it so we didn’t know to save some to last us. He had to park in a bus space in the car park which was full as there was a big funeral going on.

I would have gone to the funeral (dad of #2 daughter’s school friend and at one time world Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling champion) but I’d been allocated a slot for an RSV jab then so I had to walk over to the hospital hub. I asked about the blood tests I’d had in November and was pleased to hear kidney and liver functions both fine and cholesterol and sugar levels are good. (I can’t get into my NHS account to check myself as it asks for a password which I don’t know, then sends a link to change it but when I try the new one it says it’s wrong).

While on that side of the valley I rang Chris to see if she fancied a walk which she did so she picked me up from the hospital and we drove to Simonside. She likes a woodland walk but doesn’t want to go up there alone in case of a happening (slipping and breaking her leg just before Covid) or having a heart attack (in the car park last year). The track is so eroded now. I needed my stick (knees) and Chris needed more puff. What a pair. It was a nice couple of miles then I got dropped off in the village to walk back. For some reason my phone only recorded the walk up the hill home and none of the rest so it looks like I only walked just over 1km.

I finished a really good Maggie O’Farrell - The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox and have started A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. I hope it’s not going to be too whimsical for me. Or too clever by half. I might read Mr C’s Fire Weather - A True Story from a Hotter World by John Vaillant. He thinks it’s excellent.
