Chinese Bridge, Croome Park
Heading further afield with our visits to National Trust Properties, Croome Park is near Worcester and was Capability Brown's first full commission to design the landscape.
The house was interesting, but lacked any furnishings so felt somewhat empty. It did show how the various vistas from the house were carefully designed to allow views from the rooms to be framed by the windows, Particularly in the Long Room, which is on the facade facing this bridge and a Cedar of Lebanon tree just out of view on the left.
I thought the treatment would show that this view has remained virtually unchanged in the last almost 200 years.
