Coming home is such
a nice feeling....I should go
away more often!

L and I were up at 3 to get to the Calgary airport. The wind had begun to howl overnight and the temperature dropped dramatically. Old snow drifted across the roadways in front of us.
I was through the lineups and settled for breakfast by 5 AM at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in the secured area. I took note of the decor and art along the way in. I especially enjoyed the faux campfire and the friendly bear. I was up, up and away in no time.
The first flight took me to Dallas-Fort Worth, which I'm told, is the second largest airport in the USA. I spent most of my day sitting and waiting for my flight to Yuma, about 8 hours to be exact. I am very impressed with their Skylink, an elevated automated shuttle system that moves passengers around between the 5 terminals. It moves along a track above the airport stopping on a schedule.
I wondered about the long-term impact on the travel industry if these threatened deportations come to pass. There were so many immigrant people working in all areas from food services to flight crews. I judge them to be immigrants because they speak with an accent or perform tasks that do not require language competency. How could a place like the airport survive with them?
I slept most of the 3 hour trip to Yuma. The young fellow beside me sneezed, coughed and blew his nose throughout the trip. I hope he hasn't shared anything with me.
My biggest concern was getting my car out of the airport parking lot. I'd flown away with a parking ticket tucked into my cell phone case. It would have been a $350 charge had I lost this ticket. Thankfully, I arrived to a clear sky with stars and a portion of a yellow moon. The parking meter cooperated and I was on my way home.
