Hobbs's Run

Small Fall

The rain continues, along with heavy mist and water logged tracks. Nice and cool though. It never got beyond 16 degrees Celsius today, which suits me just fine. The last two blips were similar types of cascades in the Katoomba area. If one is not careful, Blue Mountains waterfall shots can all start to look the same.

So, today I slushed my way to the old Leura Cascades which are still largely inaccessible due to 2023 landslides and flash flooding. We are promised that liberal access and renewed facilities will emerge later in the year buuuut don't hold your breath. This is an incredibly beautiful place, dominated by temperate rain forests, fern glens and babbling mountain brooks. There are some decent waterfalls too but today I want to feature something a little different. Everywhere, water is dribbling down small rock faces toward ancient watercourses which merge with OTHER streams to flow into fully fledged creeks that ultimately plummet into the Jamison.
