Pumpkinseed fish

Linda and I went for a walk to clear our heads a bit after Remy's passing. We visited the Whitchurch Conservation Area's pond to see what was going on. It was a lovely day: pleasant temperatures, big puffy clouds and blue sky, a nice breeze. We walked through the woods to the pond and found lots of these pumpkinseed fish. They are a variety of sunfish - a common warm freshwater fish here in Ontario. The pond must be very healthy. There were hundreds of them plus hundreds more minnows. No turtles but at least two dozen frogs went jumping off the banks with a chirp into the water. Lots of dragonflies and grasshoppers, too.

Linda blipped the path to the pond and on her second site, a green frog.
