B.A.C.K. to Basics

Ice Castle

We saw the sign for this last year while we were camping in North Woodstock, NH. Wondering what the hype was all about, we decided to give it a shot. Well worth the trip (2.5 hour drive one way).

This is a snow/ice fort for big kids (and littles) alike. It’s a two level structure with tunnels, caverns, slides, look outs, bridges and ice sculptures. All lit from within with beautiful lights that change colors like an Aurora. They also had a Mystic Forest light walk and a Polar Pub (we dropped $30 on a Beer and Baileys Hot Cocoa).

On our way home, we saw another Aurora Borealis event in the Rumford area. Visible with the naked eye the sky turned red and green for about ten minutes, then vanished.

Perfect “date night”.
