This'n'That

Burns Night

Somehow the image quality setting got changed, and I’m not pleased with the photos. Oh well.
Very chilly this morning, -2C and sunny, perfect for a brisk walk. I saw this ad on the community billboard and have also seen ads in the local newspaper and the community emails. I've wondered why the Burns Night Dinner and Dance was being held on the 18th and thought it was maybe because the hall had been booked for the 25th. Coincidentally, as I was walking by the hall, a woman came out and I asked her if she was helping to get ready for the evening. She was. Nosy Nanzy asked about the date, and it turns out that the hall had been booked by another group for the 25th. I had a good natter with her, and oddly enough, she's from Quebec but is an active member of the island's Scottish Country Dance Club. She said that there were still a couple of people in the hall and I was welcome to go in and have a look at the decorations. The women inside welcomed me and said I could have a look even though they were just about to leave. The decorations looked fantastic! I was asked not to take any photos though. Like the woman outside, one was also a member of the dance club, and both of them suggested that I join the club. I might think about it!
Extra: sign on the events board outside the community hall. I used to be able to play Scots Wha Hae on the pipes, wonder if I still can. Might dig out my chanter. When G and I drove by the hall yesterday, I sang a couple of lines from it but couldn't remember the rest.
