Settling In

I slept long and hard last night...boy I needed to! So felt almost normal this morning. Puttered around a bit inside since it was so darned cold (28F this morning more than 50 degrees colder than Mexico was!) and eventually walked over to my old house, where my ex still lives. He needed advice for the front garden, which needed to be cut back. He's planning on putting his house on the market at the end of the month, so the garden needs to be looking at least cared for.

We built the wall that contains the large perennial bed in 2013 - I can't believe it was so long ago now. It spans the entire right hand side of the property and was built by a friend of mine (who has a landscaping biz) out of Camas basalt. Camas is a city not far from here in Washington, on the Columbia river. The stone is lovely and has, over the years, become a habitat for all sorts of mosses and lichens and there's many creatures that burrow in between the garden and the wall. I love moss, and although this isn't a super photo, it conveys the lushness of the moss this time of year!
