Paintings, drawings, music
Went to the Royal Academy at 9.45 to see what the queue looked like to see the Irish Turners. 25 people or so ahead of me at that point, so I stayed; by 10.00 when the doors opened there were at least 60 people behind. The gallery are letting people in in batches, encouraging people to move around in the single room where the 31 watercolours are hung, and generally managing the volumes of people. The blip is the box made to store the pictures and allow for viewing one at a time. (There's no similar box for Edinburgh's pictures).
Also wandered round the RSW's annual show; some very attractive things, including the Pea Green Boat, in extra because it made me grin.
Looked at the drawings downstairs too .. Rembrandt, Durer, Van Dyck, Rubens ..
Return by the chocolate shop. Out in the afternoon to walk over to St Cecilia's Hall for a cello recital by Jonathan Manson Bach Cello Suites Nos 1, 2 & 3. He gave an informative talk in the middle, about what Bach was using as background and source material when composing these.
Back across town in the dark; all the pubs we passed seemed to be full, though the streets weren't too busy.
