It Takes All Kinds
It’s really fun to see the American Kennel Club show at the Expo; we go every few years and come away happier. You get to see all kinds of dogs, and none get to jump up on or lick you. The agility events are fast and funny, and the crowds are happy and enthusiastic. But it’s not just the dogs themselves, the handlers are so much a part of it, too. They still keep to their odd dress code of suits and skirts. There is even a vintage clothing booth in case you can’t find your JackieO suit or pantyhose anywhere else. You can buy handmade chocolates and endless sparkly leashes, you can get a professional photo of you and your dog with Mt Hood in the background. You can wander through the grooming area and get a real close-up of poodle-snipping, blow-dryers, and comb-outs. It was cool to walk around with a long metal comb in your own hair in case your dog needs a touch-up. It is really fun.
