Iconic Buildings - old & new
We were out for a walk in Härnösand. We chose this walk because we wanted to be in the sun and the shore of the South Sound was somewhere we knew the sun would be shining. We are standing on the South Sound jetty here, looking north towards town. The extra is taken from the same place but looking southward, down the sound towards the open sea.
The title mentions iconic buildings (well, iconic in Härnösand!). In the background is the cathedral tower and spire, from 1846. In the foreground is the swimming pool building, with its curved roof, built in the 1970's I think. Next to the pool is the new Herno Gin Hotell, opening in February. As the name suggests it's owned by the local Herno Gin distillery, which we blipped a while back in 2021.
After this sunny walk we popped in to see Rose and enjoyed a lively couple of hours chatting and having some Swedish "fika".
PS This is from the 19th in reality. However, my two photographs from the 18th were so boring that I'm doing this slight cheat! The blip for the 19th will appear a day late, tomorrow, 'cause it's time for bed and that blip needs a little editing!
