Despite using up a few of the unsatisfactorily firm and ineffective one-pointy-one-wide-tipped cotton buds, hastening the time when I can get a box of normal-shaped ones, the dehumidifier failed to work properly even after getting most of the worst of the glagged gloop off the condenser vanes and cleaning and lubricating the fan spindle. The fan still seems inclined to stop, which results in no damp air being drawn through, moisture being condensed and the dust trapped on the much finer and less easily-cleaned vanes of the radiator being heated to the point where it starts to smell suspicious. After a few minutes cooling down outside it's now back in the garage, there to wait until I have time to take it to smaller bits, which will probably be sometime in the summer.
