Purple Carrots???

My friend gets a box of organic vegetables delivered to her doorstep every week. The cardboard side says, "Farmer's Market in a Box." This week, the veggies included salad lettuce, spinach, onions, bell peppers, bitter melon, and these purple carrots.

I looked it up, and supposedly purple carrots used to be the norm. Over time, it was decided that orange ones taste better. The carrots that came in the box were more purple before I peeled them, but they tasted good to me.

The bitter melon, on the other hand, needs to find another home.
