Last Monday at 8am
our art tutor sent us our monthly challenge to be completed by 8pm tonight.
Please draw, photograph, sew, embroidery, sculpt whatever an image that represents ‘Hats in Art’ to you personally. Please work around any medium, gender appropriate or mis-appropriate, colour, shape or religious connotation, accompanied by a cultural narrative.
But my dear students, I ask you not to ruminate. Please give your first visual image that comes to mind. Don’t aim for perfection just release your inner hat god.
What a great challenge. (Respect here for great teachers who lead not restrict).
And I have to be honest (big hat lover here), my first thought was for Old Man Magritte’s Dove Pic (I love this as it is a very masculine image of non disclosure but ultimately of peace).

Then I looked at women who wore hats over the ages.

And I really enjoyed this website. See here
But I think Old Man Magritte wins out. See here

Blip is of my new safari hat (old man Steinbeck) - I love love love it (coincidentally only bought it last week). Background see here
I can’t wait to see what my fellow students post up. Namely London Dude; Spanish Lady and French Guy.
Bear with me til I load the links
