Wot - no Guinness?
In processing terms, I've finally reached the evening of the last day in the jungle (which would have been the 8th December). It was a full on day, but we finished by climbing up a 40m tall tower in the jungle for the last hour of daylight. From that lofty position we were lucky enough to see a number of very colourful species of bird, but the Araçaris were undoubtedly the highlight. More colourful than other toucans these are very strikingly patterned birds. This one (the chestnut eared version) stopped for long enough to give me a very hard stare :-)
The title of the shot, is a reference to the use of Toucans in adverts for Guiness in the 50's 60's and 70's. There has been a national shortage of the black stuff for a little while now. Cathy was able to order a 1/2 pint of it yesterday when we had a pub lunch with our daughter and her husband, so presumably the supply issue is starting to ease up.
