Not Used Today

Woke to rain, and it's continued, heavier and weaker, all day. Grateful for every drop. These are the few pegs we keep on the garden fence to peg out the dishcloth or towels; most pegs I keep in a basket indoors.

For my English class, said I didn't want to talk about the inauguration, but concentrated instead on it being Martin Luther King Day. We watched this video of his "I Have a Dream" speech, what a speech that was. Shame so much of it is still a dream. They asked me what the difference was between Baptists (MLK was a Baptist pastor) and Catholics - that led to some good discussion, though we kept having to revert to Portuguese for it.

Gratefuls:
- Mike and Luís managing, eventually, to hand in the documents to the finance office; now have to wait for them to come measure the building again
- lovely chat with Ju just now; only two more shifts to go before maternity leave; and another lovely FT with Eden this morning, being looked after by Titia, as Tom had begun his OT course
- a warm and dry home (thinking of the Palestinians returning to bombed out homes, still with bodies buried in the rubble)
