Mutual admiration society...
Up early as had to phone the health centre to arrange to speak to a GP in order to change my prescription of long-term antibiotics.
I've been put on a daily antibiotic until my surgery to hopefully keep UTI infections at bay but a recent sample has shown the antibiotic I'm on isn't the right one, so I've been given a stronger 7 day course of the new one but there was no mention of also changing the longer term one that I am due to start again on Saturday. GP phoning me tomorrow morning to discuss.
D was playing golf locally so was out the door by 10.00am. I spent a chunk of the morning getting organised for my photoshoot with baby Orla tomorrow. Looked out the various blankets and little outfits from Esme's newborn shoot. The outfits will all be too big for Orla but I do have a little fluffy hat that will fit and I'm sure Nikki will bring outfits she'd like her to wear.
Just after midday John and Norma arrived with my birthday gifts and card. It's not till tomorrow but Norma goes to her Alzheimers Club on a Tuesday so they came up today. Alan was very happy to see his grandpa and Norma.
David arrived back from the golf just before 1pm so we had lunch and John and Norma had coffee and biscuits (they'd had an early lunch in a local cafe that they love :-)
Just before David got back from golf, Billy the painter and decorator popped in to look at the Team's kitchen and see how big a job he has. He's hoping to come next Wednesday to get it done. Also our new rug and lamps for the garden room arrived, then the pool engineer pitched up to remove the pump, which is making a very strange noise, and take it to get checked over. It was like groundhog day with the number of times the doorbell rang!
Norma and John went to sit with Alan for a wee while, and on their way back to the kitchen, Norma picked up the mail that had landed in the hall. When she gave it to me there was a white official looking envelope amongst the birthday cards and junk mail and I immediately thought it was a letter re. my pending surgery. I was proved correct when I opened the envelope and the folded letter inside was headed "Admission Procedure". Quickly scanned the letter and saw that the proposed date of my surgery is 18th February. Four weeks tomorrow!
I felt a flood or relief, firstly because it means our little holiday with Agnes and Adrian to Forfar from 1st-8th February can go ahead, and secondly because I want to get this over and done with! I am not looking forward to it or the pain post surgery, but it's needed and surely things can only get better?!
John and Norma left just after 3.00pm and we got the new rug and lamps put in place. The finishing touches. Really happy with it all.
Homemade beef burgers for dinner then cleaning my camera kit and charging my batteries for tomorrow. Keeping everything crossed I get some good shots of the wee beauty :-))
