A bit of a worry.
I have mentioned before that when our earthquake repairs were completed, our top deck tiles were installed incorrectly. After a very long time, EQC (the earthquake commission) are getting some work underway. This morning the soffitts were removed from under the top deck and side extension. I was not surprised to see extensive water damage. The real worry is what we cannot yet see behind cladding and in the spaces between house levels. The deck will need to be completely removed and then rebuilt from the ground below, the house will need recladding and we will need to move out for an unspecified length of time. Although expected, this is not really the news that we wanted to hear. This work will cost around $400,000+ at a guess. Luckilly, we should not have to pay for this.
