In Full Defensive Mode

Literally a fraction of a millisecond after I took this photograph this little guy was attacked by a rival for the local flower plant. That's what Hummingbirds do, there is no such thing as sharing a food source, unless it is with a mate. The sounds and movements were very intense, I really don't know who was the victor, the speed in the fight made it impossible to tell who was who!

In photographing these bird a very high ISO is needed, this makes a smooth image next to impossibly. Even at that high camera speed his wing movements could not be stopped. But I do love this image, it show the intensity of life and conflict.
