Perhaps the Calm before the Next Storm
5° and sunshine after lunch. I’ll accept that! It did feel a little frosty first thing this morning but on the whole it has been a much better day than yesterday and although the sun wasn’t exactly shining on the beach at 8am it was a windless morning and the sea was clear and calm. The buses weren’t helpful today but as it wasn’t too cold I’ll resist complaining.
I was finished having coffee and doing the chores in time to watch the first episode of Playing Nice on playback before lunch. There’s always the residual Presbyterian guilt in watching TV during the day unless it’s the news or I am ill but this morning it filled a gap perfectly.
I bought my first bunch of daffodils today and they do brighten a room with their cheery colour heralding spring days ahead. I still mourn what I called my illegal daffodils that I planted against the boundary wall just after we moved here. They came up for many years making a beautiful patch of colour in a sea of green grass. They were actually increasing in number but at some point when I wasn’t looking, the gardeners dug the bulbs out and they are no more.
