The hope

The bridge over the former railway that used to carry garbage trains out to east Lothian is often the site of some curious posters. As here. Not sure what the provenance is of this strange play on a well known phrase.

A busy and fairly sociable day. I walked up to George Street this morning, for two meetings at the RSE plus lunch with a fellow who wanted to talk to me. Home on the 11 when it was still light and then out after supper to a concert at Leith folk club where the person I know was the first of three performers. We liked his clawhammer guitar style. We only stayed for the first few songs of the second performer. It wasn't doing it for us.

It's cold out tonight. Even at 9.30 there was ice and frost on cars. Earlier there was sunshine which lifted the spirits and discernibly more daylight than a week or so ago.
