B Gone

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

I went into work today to find Briar looking much happier than last week. 

"I just resigned," she told me.

The B in our FOBs is leaving. 

It had been coming for a while. She was really very unhappy with the restructure last year and not liking her new team at all. 

I came up with a plan to try and make things a little better but she's been stressing about it all over Xmas and I guess enough was enough.

"Plus, I need to focus on my thesis," she told me. 

She seemed happy but sad. I think she will miss us, but clearly needs to focus on herself and eliminate the stress from her life. We cheered ourselves up by playing, Carrot in a Box and Bananagrams, and at lunchtime we walked to Cafe Eis for an ice cream.

And actually, she really does seem so much happier already. Clearly it was the right choice. 

As for me, I still managed to have a fun day and met up with Jefe after work to go and see "Wolf Man". Manda was supposed to come too, but she wasn't feeling well. 

Instead Jefe and I chatted on the drive down to the IMAX and oohed and aahed at the trailers together and then thoroughly enjoyed the film.

It's been getting only mediocre reviews, but I thought it was very well done. Maybe it's simple and predictable but it does what it does and we were happy. 

I got home to find that Caro has been offered a full-time job at the funeral home. She is undecided as to whether she wants to give up part-time living for full-time money. I offered some thoughts but honestly I suspect I may have made the swithering worse. I too, am full of swithers for her.

So on the whole I would say it was a good day, full of nice people. And Briar will not be far away from us, I am sure. There will always be time for Carrot in a Box.
