Coast Guard
It was cold this morning and I really didn't want to leave the house. But I had a couple of jobs booked in Bedford for today so I forced myself to get out. I knew that I would be there all day.
Not many birds around the feeders here lately, not even the starlings. Possibly the smaller birds are not coming because there are a couple of pigeons that come to the feeder. Or maybe I am just not seeing them because I am not home during the day. The seeds do disappear but I think the pigeons get most of them. One morning dove was around late this afternoon. I saw the squirrels yesterday but even they do not come on a regular basis.
On the way home I did take a drive along the waterfront and spotted the Coast Guard ship leaving so I stopped to get a couple of photos of it.
The temperature this morning was -13 C. With the wind chill it felt like -20 C. This afternoon the temperature was -7 C and the wind chill made it feel like -14 C. Tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be colder, with the forecast high of -10 C. Brrr... With the drop in temperature I had to turn the temperature on the heat pump higher. One problem with heat pumps, they do not like the cold weather. It will be interesting to get my first power bill for here, I should receive it soon. I know it was costing me about $1300 for a 2 month period during the winter for heat and lights on Helene.
One more full day of work this week (tomorrow) and about 3 hours on Friday.
