Old Bat

er, heron in a tree with its tongue out!

After a swim/sauna/steam/hydropool session, I went off to Cramond (with binoculars this time) hoping to get a better blip of the lapwings. But they were right over the other side of the river on the mudflats, along with curlews, and bar-tailed godwits. Also a dopping of female goosanders came along, but they landed behind the sailing boats. I wandered upstream a little and came across several heron - young ones I think. But this one in the tree made me giggle - it stayed like this for a while before settling right down on the branch, presumably for a bit of a snooze.
