Nipper

Above the entrance to a building on Park Row, Bristol, which was once the Coliseum Picture House (cinema) stands this statue of Nipper.  Nipper was a Bristol born dog who was the model for a painting by Francis Barraud of a dog listening to an early wind-up gramophone.  The painting was sold to  The Gramophone Company who adopted it as their logo ("His Master's Voice").

Francis Barraud was a scenic designer at the old Prince's Theatre which once stood on the opposite side of the road to the Coliseum.
