Thursday
A gloomy day.
Luckily, just drizzle for most of this morning's walk but heavy rain during the home stretch.
It's hammering down now but I'm short a couple of thousand steps so will have to go out again later. Currently, Hetty is refusing. (Good)
Between the flight of locks and the Caen hill dual carriageway, there's an old brickworks.
Local clay was found to be good for brick making when the canal was being built and millions were supplied for it's construction. After it was completed, the brickwork remained and produced bricks until 1952.
This long wall runs adjacent to the bottom of the flight and just below the site of the brick manufacturer.
It's also right next to the bench that I sit on most mornings and look up the flight.
