Thomas Cook

Walking in north Herefordshire I have come across several waymarks from the Eardisland Memorial Walks. There are thirteen walks. One for each of the men from the village who were killed in the First World War. Each begins and ends at the village war memorial. The routes take paths that would have been familiar to those men before the war. Today I came across the walk commemorating Private Thomas George Cook. Private Cook was killed in action during the Suvla Bay landings on 10th August 1915, aged 18. I have decided that, before the year is out, I will try to visit the cemetery in Gallipoli where he is buried.
