Located in Victoria Embankment Gardens next to Embankment Station.

Before the Victoria Embankment was built in 1862. The gateway stopped at the river edge. - see additional photo.

One article says that it was built around 1626 in the grounds of York House, as a posh parking space for the Duke of Buckingham's boat.
