As anticipated we only saw the edges of the big storm, though in Ireland and Scotland things are rather different.
In the garden, the visiting woodpecker is continuing to try to empty the sun flower hearts feeder, much to the irritation of the greenfinches who sit on the branches of the tree watching when it is here, but wouldn't dream of actually trying to bully it off the feeder, as they do with the other visiting (small) birds. The woodpecker will occasionally visit the mealworms feeder, but it's the sunflower hearts it really wants.
The dunnocks generally hide low under or in the neighbouring bushes waiting for their chance to clear up under the feeder. However, this dunnock has learned the trick of flying up to the feeder to eat. It is the only one that does this.
