You know you are in trouble when…
A bit of a nothing day, really, with the only real event being a trip with Ottawacker Jr. to his doctor’s. There is nothing wrong, other than his being 12 and an odd sniffle, so this was primarily to get his vaccinations against whatever it is 12-year-old boys need to be vaccinated against. It all went relatively smoothly, with the exception of the shocked look the nurse gave us as she walked in on the middle of our hand-slapping game. (This where you face each other, finger tip to finger tip, and take turns to try and slap the other person’s hand; if you fake them out, you get a free shot. If your opponent removes his hand while you are trying to slap it and you get an air shot, you change slapper. Ottawacker Jr., as a goalkeeper, is undisputed champion.) When she saw Ottawacker Jr. was winning, she stayed to watch and then asked me if I wanted to give him his needle… It was tempting – but I said no. Post vaccine, we went for a pick-up and take out sausage bun lunch at Adam’s Deli off Belfast Street, which we mostly ate in the car. Then I drove him, not really protesting, back to school. Other than that, did very little other than sorting through various photos. Beginning to seize up and have had enough of winter – and, to a general extent, of being in Ottawa. Still very little on the work front. In the evening, binge-watched Ted Lasso, and I can see why people were raving about it. The Amsterdam episode is excellent.
