EXCITEMENT AT THE LIBRARY TODAY!
Hello Lovely Blippers,
We were really excited when we heard Mr. HCB say that they would be going to the library today, so asked if we could go too because we love reading. We were told that if we promised to be good and not to throw books around, then we could go with them - as if we would do something like that! We know that it would be silly to do that, because books are so precious. The HCBs read lots of books - in fact, they read more than they watch television!
We hope that you all support your local Library wherever you live - because if you don’t, then you might find one day that it's closed because not enough people go there.
We had to be “vetted” carefully when we first got to the library, by one of the supervisors, Michelle. She wanted to know exactly what Mrs. HCB would be doing, what we would be doing and she had to make sure that there would be no photographs of any children who may be around. Mrs. HCB said she would be very careful and promised that she would abide by the Rules, especially if we want to go back again sometime. Later, Mrs. HCB spoke to Bethan, who was also very kind - we think that kindness is catching!
Mrs. HCB found some lovely books for us to read, while Mr. HCB was in another section of the library choosing his books - we think it would be silly to go to the same section as him, because we like happy books and he likes crime books and mystery books, which we aren’t keen on at all.
Reeth, our little pink pig, was thrilled that Mrs. HCB saw a book entitled “The Three Little Pigs” and even posed with the book, as you can see - we think that would have made Admirer giggle.
Then Mrs. HCB found a book entitled “Politeness for Penguins” - well, Zappi and Penny said they knew how to be polite, but they would like to read the book anyway, to see if they could pick up any tips for some of the others in the gang who need a little reminder sometimes.
Then, the HCBs saw on the reception desk a little card telling them all about BorrowBox - they don’t actually need to know about that because they already have the app on their iPhones and iPads, but you may not know about it. Most libraries use this - and we hope that yours will too - so that you can read not only books, but you can listen to books too - isn’t that amazing - so you could be doing something like washing up or preparing a meal and listen to a book! Mrs HCB reads the newspapers online every day and Mr. HCB looks at several magazines about gardening, birds and other interesting things. They tell us that you just need to download the app and then follow the instructions - and it works very well, so have a go - when the weather isn’t good, it would save you going out in the cold and wet!
The other thing that we need to remind you about is BEING KIND - the lady we spoke to in the library was very kind and interested in Blip too, so that was good. You all know that we do this Blip each week in memory of dear Admirer, and we are sure that she would be proud of us for being polite and kind and abiding by the Rules of the library.
We hope you all have a good week and please take care - especially if you live in one of the areas where the recent storm did a lot of damage.
Love to you all from
The Silly Saturday Gang xxx
P.S. Mrs. HCB took a photograph of the 2,000 piece jigsaw entitled “Pots and Penny Farthings” which Mr. HCB completed yesterday, 24th January and which is in as an extra. What a clever and patient man he is - he started this on the 7th January so it only took him 18 days - Mrs. HCB said it would probably take her until next Christmas! That would definitely have been silly, because it takes up most of the conservatory table - and it would have made Admirer laugh! Mr. HCB remembered that someone asked how big the jigsaw puzzle was, so being a very kind man, he measured it and said it is 98cm x 68cm - so quite BIG!
