Storm Eowyn

The storm has now passed by and we didn't lose any more trees, thank goodness.  The spruce failed by rotating its root ball in the ground and lifting a large plate of earth and meadow turf with it.  The pit it has left is quite deep - should I fill it in or make a wildlife pond out of it?  As for the fallen tree, I have trimmed off the side branches and cut the top off as far down the trunk as my saw can manage.  I will now be speaking very nicely to someone I know who has a chainsaw and has been trained to use it safely.
