Strong Women

I had a last minute invite to an art exhibition, it was only about 15 minutes drive from home and yet I'd never been to the gallery. Afterwards we went for a walk to find a cafe and came across this installation in an underpass. My friend had spotted it earlier and wanted us to go and have a photo taken next to it. It isn't possible to see in this image but the banner underneath is made from a large number of individual ceramic hearts each decorate with a name of a woman or a message.
Apparently it was a quote from Michelle Obama. The internet tells me it means -
Know - recognise the strength and accomplishements of women. 
Be - Strive to be strong, confident, and true to yourself and finally 
Raise - Support other women and girls, and help them reach their goals. It was quite a poignant find; the friend I was with is one of the strongest women I know, having suffered a number of set backs in life and yet always has a smile and is the one who makes contact with me, and has done so for many years, often with a suggestion for something interesting to do. Equally piognant is that tomorrow I plan to bury my Mum's ashes - the second attempt given the snowy weather a few weeks back. She was another quietly strong women, who equally, managed a good number of set backs in her life. I too have a lovely daughter who I hope will live up to her Grandma's example.
