Rolvenden engine yard

The Ransome’s 20 ton crane trundles around the yard at Rolvenden having been used recently to lift various heavy bits of locomotives into different places. Waiting in the yard for the start of the new season 76017 and Northiam.

It was quick visit to the yard on the way to our annual volunteers meeting followed by updates on the 2025 Rules, Regulations and Instructions and an update on the Signalman’s Instructions. We’re starting earlier than ever this season with the first public trains running on Saturday 1st. February and running weekends in February and March and over half term.

I’m at Tenterden on Saturday and will have to implement new arrangements for movement authority indicators - which we are assured will be in place by then. As usual, the smallest detail of change garnered a huge amount of discussion. However, overall it was an interesting gathering of mostly white haired or balding men of a certain age. Our ladies may be white haired but are not balding!
