Getting Up Soon
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,
"Getting up soon," is a traditional text from Caro at the weekend. Saturdays and Sundays are her days for lying in late with cats.
I don't resent this, not at all. Cat-therapy is good for the soul, and besides, it gives me the mornings to myself to watch crappy old movies and tv shows.
Caro's life is about to change. You may be wondering what she decided about the job - going from part to full-time at the funeral home.
Well, she's been so enthused by the idea. Of going from admin and cleaning to a more people-focussed role.
"You're so good with people," commented Caro's boss.
I mean. She is. But I'm a little astonished that this was clocked by a manager. They are typically a fairly useless bunch. But Caro was happy to have been recognised for something that comes so naturally to her.
So this coming week is her last week of part time. After this she's back to 40 hours a week and on-call every 5th week.
It seems like a lot but confidence is high. I think because she likes the job it won't feel like the slog that was her last full-time role. To be frank, even working part time at the recruitment office wore her down... the pettiness, the politics, the irritating managers...
Hopefully things will be different for her now.
As for me, I had another very quiet day. I decided to steer clear of technology today and to give myself a break from it. I'll get back into it tomorrow - both at work and in my own personal admin.
But for today I decided to allow myself a bit of respite. I'll be getting up soon enough.
S.
