Little Bredy
Entering this charming small village in rual Dorset is to step back in time by 150 years. Most of the farm buildings and houses belong to the Bridehead estate, which the lord and lady of the manor manage in a benign way valuing quality of life for the residents above profits. Wild flowers abound in hedgerows, edges and streams and there are few cars on the few roads. Parts of the grounds of the manor house are open to visitors, including a lake and waterfall. The village was our home for a couple of years when we first moved to Dorset and I still love to go back there.
The small stream in the foreground, with the monkey flowers growing in profusion, is actually the River Bride which rises at the lake a few hundreds yards above here, and enters the sea at Burton Bradstock.
