I Witness

Silly Saturday ...

... Fire and Ice.

We went on a short road trip this morning to the annual Tobyhanna Ice Harvesting Festival.  We've been here before several times ... the last time was in 2023 when it was too warm for the lake to freeze up enough to cut any ice.  It's always fun to go to but it was especially cold this year.

The main shot is of one of the two horses they use to pull the ice up the chute and into the ice house.  I've also added into Extras a collage of some other pictures I liked.  Lots of silly things to see today ... including a cyclist and his dog out on the frozen lake.  All the young kids loved playing on lake as well.  Please have a look full screen.

The lower left picture is of the 1922 Gifford Wood Ice saw they used to cut through the ice ... which appears to be about a foot thick.  I actually walked out on the lake this year as I felt comfortable enough to do it.  I hadn't done this before and it was fun seeing the festival from a different perspective and seeing the ice saw at work.  I wouldn't have been able to see that from the shoreline.

We made a couple of stops on the way home but were back home by 2:15 pm.  It was a great day even if very, very cold!
