Earlier this week, a friend of ours had had a mini stroke while out walking in Dorset. Alan was taken to Dorchester hospital, but after tests & scans he was discharged and had to make his own way back to Frome, which was well over £100 by taxi. He’s not allowed to drive for a month so we arranged to take him and another friend Helen (who is insured to drive Alan’s car) down to a nature reserve near Beaminster, to collect his car today …
This was the view from the car park at the nature reserve. We drove in over the little bridge but the lane was flooded when we drove out 30 minutes later!
It was a round trip of 120 miles (further than we’d expected) in the pouring rain and with lots of standing water / flooded roads. Horrendous, particularly when cars coming the other way wouldn’t slow down but drove through the water so fast that it sent water cascading right over the roof of our car.
