The Friendly City...
... Bradenton, FL. We've walked by this plaque many times when visiting Riverwalk in Downtown Bradenton, but we never stopped and got a good look, until today. It's embedded into the walkway! I think it's rather nice and I'm happy I took this photo. Steve took one of me in front of a fountain (not on now) that features Florida manatees and I've put it in the extra photos.
We have seen them swimming in the river and they have come right into our canal many times... I uploaded a two minute video to YouTube a few years ago, you can view it here if you'd like. They are herbivores and weigh 200–600 kg (440–1,320 lb), with females generally larger than males. More info at the 'Florida manatees' link above!
